Repairing the kitchen

The kitchen starts with two unusable facilities inside your home: the Broken Kitchen Table and the Broken Oven. Repair both before trying to prepare a full range of food. The repair prompts show separate material requirements:

Facility Material to bring
Broken Kitchen Table 2 Wooden Plank
Broken Oven 2 Piece of stone

Make Wooden Plank at the Woodworking Workbench I. If you do not have the intermediate boards, process Log at the Sawhorse first. For Piece of stone, collect stone with a pickaxe and use the stoneworking facility indicated by its recipe. Check the recipe on your current save before gathering extra materials; Piece of stone is a crafted material, distinct from loose stone.

Bring the finished materials back into the house and interact with each broken facility. Once repaired, their names change to Kitchen Table and Kitchen Oven.

The Kitchen Table prepares ingredients and dishes that do not need heat. The Kitchen Oven handles baked and heated food and needs fuel. Put Firewood into a Firewood shed I to increase the fuel supply; the game’s fuel hint explicitly instructs you to stock the shed for workbenches.

When both facilities are usable and fuel is available, follow the cooking and recipes guide to prepare your first meal. If a recipe is visible but will not start, check the oven’s fuel supply as well as its ingredients.
